DRIVER TRAINING LESSONS
Driver Training lessons are offered almost any time the student is available. Appointments can be made either before school, after school, in the evenings, or on weekends. We will pick up the student at your home and drop them off at home or at a convenient location.
We are also available to take appointments with students who may have partial school day schedules or be available mid-day for other reasons.
Additional driving lessons are available by-the-hour or in a package of 6 hours.
There is a 6 month mandatory holding period for a permit before a license test can be taken.
THE NEW LAW FOR TEENAGERS
DANVILLE DRIVING SCHOOL would like you to remember that:
Students with a Provisional License must observe a curfew between 11 pm and 5 am for one year.
Students with a Provisional License CANNOT drive with passengers under age 20 for one year.
PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
While the state requires a minimum of 6 hours of driving lessons with an Instructor, parents are required to provide an additional 50 hours of practice, 10 hours of which must be at night. Lessons at DANVILLE DRIVING SCHOOL work best when a student drives 5 to 10 hours between sessions so that new skills are reinforced along the way. The 6 hours of Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training is generally divided into 1 or 1½ hour lessons with 1-3 weeks between each session. We will try to accommodate the scheduling that works best for you. We have included a DANVILLE DRIVING SCHOOL TRACKING FORM for you to print out and use for your convenience to record your teenager’s practice driving. CLICK ON THE PDF IMAGE at the bottom of this page to get this form.
YOUR FIRST DRIVING LESSON
Your first appointment for a lesson will only be scheduled after the permit is obtained. We cannot commit the Driving Instructor’s time until we know that you are legally eligible to get behind the wheel of a car. Teenagers cannot drive with a parent or guardian until the Driving Instructor has legally validated their permit by signing it.
DANVILLE DRIVING SCHOOL has both male and female Instructors and you are welcome to express your preference, if you have one, when you register. Generally a student will work with the same Instructor. We also accommodate requests for a particular Instructor or can discuss any other special needs, but this cannot always be guaranteed.
A NOTE ON MISSED DRIVING LESSONS
DANVILLE DRIVING SCHOOL generally requires a 24 Hour Notice for the Cancellation of a Lesson. Please understand that we are reserving the time and effort of our Instructors to meet the student at the appointed time and place. Increasing costs of gasoline also factor into our need to have students not miss their appointed driving lesson. Emergencies do occasionally arise and we will strive to be as flexible as possible under such circumstances. Please phone DANVILLE DRIVING SCHOOL between 10 am to 5 pm, Mon. - Fri., and as soon as you can if a driving lesson cannot be kept. You must contact us by 3 pm on a Friday for cancellations over the weekend. PLEASE SEE OUR COVID-19 GUIDELINES at the bottom of the Driver Education Tab. WE ADHERE TO THESE RESTRICTIONS FIRMLY.
